A new voluntary return operation has enabled more than 200 Guinean migrants, stranded in Mauritania, to return home. This initiative, supported by the IOM and the Guinean authorities, is part of a reintegration program designed to offer a second chance to migrants in distress.

The repatriation of Guinean nationals stranded abroad continues. On the evening of Tuesday, December 9, 2025, more than 200 Guinean migrants returned to Conakry on a charter flight, as part of a voluntary return.

Among those repatriated are 112 children, as well as 108 women and girls, according to information gathered from the relevant authorities. These migrants were part of a group of compatriots in distress, stranded in Mauritania.

This operation is part of the voluntary return and reintegration assistance program, implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Guinean government.

It is worth recalling that these migrants had requested the support of the Guinean authorities to facilitate their return to the country, after encountering numerous difficulties during their migratory journey.

Through this initiative, the authorities intend to offer these compatriots a second chance, allowing them to rebuild their future in their native land, in safer and more dignified conditions.
