Since taking office, Donald Trump has implemented an ambitious immigration policy aimed at deporting millions of undocumented migrants. Congress has approved a record $165 billion budget to support these measures, which are fueling a rapidly expanding market.
On January 20 , the day of his inauguration, Donald Trump signed an executive order entitled "Protecting the American People from Invasion," announcing a very strict immigration policy. Since then, border crossings have plummeted, arrests have doubled, and the number of people detained has reached historic levels.
To fund this policy, Congress passed a record-breaking budget nicknamed "One Big Beautiful Bill," allocating $165 billion to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This sum covers Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as well as Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The administration's stated objective is ambitious: to record at least 3,000 arrests per day and carry out 1 million deportations per year , as part of a policy which, according to some observers, has controversial humanitarian and social implications.
This policy also fuels a rapidly expanding market, with massive amounts of public and private funds flowing into the detention, transport, and repatriation of migrants. Experts point out that these measures have transformed migration security into a full-fledged economic sector.
