The Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad, Amadou Chérif Diouf, welcomes the progress and calls for strengthened coordination among stakeholders.

Dakar, September 29, 2025 — Senegal continues its efforts to improve the reintegration of returning migrants. A feedback workshop was held in Dakar, bringing together institutional stakeholders and technical partners around the National Referral Mechanism for Assistance and Reintegration of Returning Migrants .
Chaired by Amadou Chérif Diouf , Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad, the meeting provided an opportunity to present the results of the evaluation of the national system currently being implemented. This mechanism aims to coordinate the reception, support, and socio-economic reintegration of Senegalese citizens returning from abroad, in order to offer them better follow-up care.
Welcoming the significant progress made, Mr. Diouf highlighted the technical validation of the terms of reference , the creation of a working group , and the development of standardized operational procedures . "These achievements reflect Senegal's commitment to ensuring a dignified and sustainable reintegration for our compatriots," he stated.
The project benefits from the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM Senegal) and funding from the European Union , through the Programme for the Protection, Return and Reintegration of Migrants in Sub-Saharan Africa .
Participants stressed the need to strengthen synergy between public institutions, civil society and technical partners , in order to make the system fully operational in the coming months.
