Secretary of State Amadou Chérif Diouf Urges the 8th Cohort to Represent Senegal with Dignity Abroad

Blaise Diagne International Airport (Diass), October 1, 2025 – The Secretary of State in charge of Senegalese Abroad, Amadou Chérif Diouf, delivered a farewell and encouragement message to the 8th cohort of seasonal Senegalese workers departing for Spain under the circular migration program connecting the two countries.
This new cohort consists of 95 participants, including 83 men and 12 women, recruited to work temporarily on Spanish agricultural farms.
In his speech, Mr. Diouf encouraged the beneficiaries to maintain exemplary conduct while abroad, reminding them that they are ambassadors of Senegal. “Carry the national flag high through your seriousness, discipline, and commitment,” he declared.
Launched on March 16, 2025, the current circular migration campaign is coming to an end. To date, 401 seasonal workers have left Senegal, including 321 new recruits and 80 returning participants. A 9th cohort is already being prepared and will join Spain in the coming days.
This program, the result of a bilateral agreement between Senegal and Spain, aims to promote professional mobility, strengthen workers’ skills, and provide legal and safe economic opportunities as an alternative to irregular migration.
