The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that it had facilitated the voluntary return of 105 Gambian citizens from Tunisia to their country of origin.

An 18th flight has been chartered by the IOM to Tunisia since the beginning of 2025 as part of its Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration program . This program aims to offer migrants a safe, supervised, and dignified return.

According to the UN organization, repatriated migrants will benefit from specific support to facilitate their social and economic reintegration , in conditions described as "sustainable and dignified".

The IOM points out that in July 2025 alone, it had already facilitated the voluntary return of 1,096 migrants from Tunisia , thanks to three special flights and thirty-five commercial flights.

These operations take place within a context marked by the increasing precariousness of migrants in Tunisia , who face difficulties accessing employment, housing, and basic services. Furthermore, Tunisia remains one of the main transit points for migration flows to Europe , which gives the IOM's voluntary return program a central role in regional migration policies.
